All Baha recipients should seek medical advice before participating in a dive for conditions that might make diving contraindicated (e.g. middle ear infection). Diving should be avoided until the implant wound has healed and stabilization of the implant (osseointegration) has occurred.
The Baha sound processor is not waterproof and should always be removed before swimming or taking part in any water based sports.
When wearing a mask avoid pressure over the implant site.
Both the implant and the bone can theoretically cope with water pressure from scuba diving down to 40 meters, if the patient is not using any types of medication or has a medical condition that affects bone osseointegration.
