• Scrum Cap Advice

    1. Activities with high impact risk are not recommended for CI recipients. If a CI recipient decides to undergo such activities it is recommended to wear a helmet or Scrum Cap which leaves enough spacing over the implant site to prevent any pressure being applied. Such a helmet or scrum cap may help to reduce impact forces but not full protect the implant system. Cochlear does not produce a helmet specifically for use with cochlear implants.
    2. For ease of use consider using a sweat band or thin cap to place around the head and over the coil/ processor to wear under the helmet/scrum cap. This is to help slide the helmet or scrum cap on more easily without dislodging the coil/ processor. It is not recommended to physically alter a helmet as this may reduce the protection it provides.
